Into the Woods

In this series "Into the Woods," I am using my original and archival photography layered with vernacular photographs and collected ephemera as a therapeutic process to find my way through a crossroads in my long career in Motherhood. My daughter and youngest child, now an autonomous human whom I have raised to the best of my ability, is embarking upon a new chapter in life since leaving home for the first time.
This work has allowed me to gather up all my hopes for her life in one hand and my fears in the other to create work that is one part fairy tale, one part heroine's journey and one part cautionary tale about the very real dangers of this world; the overwhelming evidence of which pours in daily with alarming and escalating regularity.
Into what kind of wilderness have I sent my only daughter? Into what kind of life do I, with all my own wildness to reclaim, now return ?
