When using my art as a therapeutic practice, I have learned that I experience a visceral gut punch when I address painful subjects head on. It actually makes me sick. And yet, with the incessant influx of incendiary information, the rage is all too valid and must be felt and processed through the mind and body. To find an antidote to the toxins I have ingested from the outside world, it's much healthier for me to come at things obliquely using symbols, patterns and metaphor to help me understand the world; both its beauty and its ugliness.
This new series is called 𝚁̶𝚎̶𝚍̶𝚊̶𝚌̶𝚝̶𝚎̶𝚍̶ and addresses lives that were used, crumpled up and discarded, erased, blacked out and censored from history. I could go on making these for the rest of my life and never even scratch the surface, but I will instead exorcise what needs to be purged and move on, just like the world does.
