Ghosts of Caledonia

My new "Ghosts of Caledonia" series was inspired by my journey to meet the ancestors in Scotland in June 2023. Everywhere I went from Edinburgh to Orkney was infused with layer upon layer of sensory memory; the veils of time hung across the landscape like fog. I heard the voices and stories told by my grandmothers drifting out across the glens like smoke from distant peat fires.
A stranger in a strange land, yet stranger still, I felt like I had come home to myself there; mirrored in a myriad of lochs, the look of the people reflected in my own face. Descended from a thousand plus a thousand years more of kings and conspirators, poets and priestesses, witches and warriors - I felt a deep and thriving kinship to this ancient storied land.
